Release Notes IDS NXT 3.1
Introduction
These release notes describe the new features and changes in the IDS NXT 3.1 release. This release updates the following components:

IDS NXT cockpit 3.1
This version of the IDS NXT cockpit supports Windows 10 64-bit (version 22H2) and Windows 11 64-bit (version 22H2).
New and changed functions
- Support of scalar variables (Single Part Results) for OPC UA.
General improvements
- The transfer to the FTP client is no longer automatically deactivated if the connection is interrupted. Transmission errors are stored in the logbook. If the file transfer fails repeatedly, a system status message is displayed.
Vision apps
Classifier 3.1.0
- Support of the new CNN file extension *.rcla. Neural networks trained in IDS lighthouse for OS version 3.1.0 receive the new file extensions.
CNN Evaluator 3.1.0
- Support of the new CNN file extensions *.rdet and *.rcla. Neural networks trained in IDS lighthouse for OS version 3.1.0 receive the new file extensions.
Object Detector 3.1.0
- Support of the new CNN file extension *.rdet. Neural networks trained in IDS lighthouse for OS version 3.1.0 receive the new file extensions.
OPC UA Server
3.1.1
- An error prevented the OPC UA Server from being stopped. This error has been fixed and the OPC UA Server can now be stopped again in the IDS NXT cockpit via the "Server" slider.
- An error could lead to a crash of the OPC UA Server vision app if a vision app on the camera transmitted an empty result after image acquisition. This error has been fixed.
3.1.0
- Support for scalar variables (Single Part Results) for easier access to programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Vision app information, results, configurables, actions and info elements are now available as nodes.
- The result processing has been optimised.
IDS NXT Vision App Creator 3.1
- The IDS NXT API has been updated to version 3.1.0 so that you can program vision apps for IDS NXT OS 3.1.0.

| Classifier | Nets with attention maps | It was noticed that in certain cases classification results differ significantly, which is likely due to the different net architectures. If you use nets with attention maps, you may get different results compared to nets without attention maps. These differences occur because different net architectures are used for training. For serial application, we recommend to use nets without attention maps. |
| OPC UA Server | New installation of a vision app | After reinstalling a vision app, it may be necessary to call the "PrepareRecipe" method twice to enable the corresponding recipe. Alternatively, after reinstalling a vision app, it is recommended to start it once initially. |
| IDS NXT Vision App Creator | Update of the IDS NXT Vision App Creator | After an update, the setting of the alternative "Source Folder" for projects must be reset. |
| IDS NXT Vision App Creator | Update the virtual machine | During the update, the virtual machine is deleted and replaced by a new one. Before updating, you must manually back up files that you have stored in the previous virtual machine and want to use further. |
